General information

The Armenian Rheumatological Association was founded in November 2003 in Yerevan.
Initially comprising only five members, the organization has since grown to include more than 50 members.

The primary mission of the Association is to advance the field of rheumatology in Armenia. It regularly organizes trainings, seminars, and educational programs aimed at deepening knowledge and promoting the continuous professional development of young physicians.

Through the Association’s efforts and collaboration, rheumatology departments have been established in medical universities, leading to a growing interest in the specialty and an increase in the number of rheumatology fellows in recent years.

Since 2005, the Armenian Rheumatological Association has been a full member of EULAR (the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology) and works closely with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia to improve rheumatologic care and education nationwide.

Over the years, the Association has hosted and collaborated with Professor Hans Bijlsma, Professor John Kanis, and several leading experts from the Russian Federation, whose visits and joint work with Armenian specialists have played a key role in resolving complex clinical cases, sharing valuable expertise, and advancing rheumatology practice in the country.

The Association also hosts national rheumatology conferences every two years, providing a platform for continuous learning and international cooperation.
